OUT OF SOUTHERN AFRICA FILM FESTIVAL

In collaboration with Sembène - The Film & Arts Festival, we will be screening "Rough Aunties." This documentary chronicles the fearless, feisty and resolute "Rough Aunties," a remarkable group of women who were unwavering in their stand to protect and care for the abused, neglected and forgotten children of Durban, South Africa. Directed by Kim Longinotto.

Free pizza, popcorn and soda will be provided.

A panel discussion will follow the screening.

In Freedom Park, a squatter settlement near the platinum mines in SA, a network of former sex workers create Tapologo. They learn to be Home Based Carers for their community, transforming degradation into solidarity and squalor into hope. Directed by Gabriela Gutiérrez Dewar and Sally Gutiérrez Dewar.
