Chatham University's Master of Landscape Management (MLM)
Chatham University's Master of Landscape Management (MLM) is an interdisciplinary professional program consisting of 48 credits. The goal of this degree is to educate and train qualified persons who can serve the green industry and/or advance their current position within the field. The program strives to bridge the gap between landscape architects, landscape contractors and related design professionals by focusing on environmental issues, business management, and sustainable development challenges, particularly in Western Pennsylvania.
The MLM curriculum includes a range of courses from plant identification to landscape operations with a possibility of flexible scheduling options. However, what makes Chatham's MLM degree option unique is its emphasis on business management. A significant portion of the required coursework is offered through the Business Department and includes courses such as marketing, leadership, and management. With a foundation in both landscape design and business management, the MLM provides a solid understanding of design, construction, and business management while fulfilling the increasing need for project managers in the green industry. The MLM degree option also has the potential to help existing green industry employers increase the skills and leadership abilities of their current staff.
