Pittsburgh, PA - Dr. Michael Habib, Assistant Professor of Biology and Human Gross Anatomy instructor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, recently had a study published in the Biological Journal of the Linnean Society. The study analyzed the wing size and strength of various bird species with a focus on birds that also swim. An article appearing in the March 31, 2010 edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, featured the penguin, one of the species included in Dr. Habib’s study. A link to this article appears below:

Dr. Habib’s explanation of how a giant prehistoric reptile launched itself into flight appeared in Discover Magazine and was ranked among the top 100 science stories of 2009. Dr. Habib’s research, published in the journal Zitteliana, was featured in a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article published on January 2, 2010. A link to this article appears below:

Chatham Professor's Theory Takes Flight

Dr. Habib, a biologist who joined the faculty at Chatham University in the Fall of 2009, received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia and a doctoral degree from Johns Hopkins University.
