Transitional DPT Admission Requirements

Post-Professional Transitional DPT Applicants must have:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an educational program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • A current U.S. physical therapy license.
  • At least one year of continuous employment in a physical therapy clinical setting. *If after successfully completing the 14-credit transitional DPT curriculum the student has less than one year of continuous employment in a physical therapy clinical setting, then the student is required to also complete a seven-week Advanced Clinical Educational Placement.
In addition to the above requirements, Foreign-Education Applicants (defined as having been educated outside the United States at either the professional entry level or post professional level) must also submit:
  • TOEFL score is required for admission decision for applicants whose native language is not English. Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) taken within the past two years are required to be sent to Chatham University (Chatham school code: 2081). TOEFL scores must be at least 100 on the internet-based test (iBT) which is equivalent to 250 on the computer-based test (CBT) and 600 on the paper-based test (PBT).
