Biography

Amy R. Jackson has a varied background that includes interior design, college-level instruction, office management, and educational fund raising. Linking all these is a deep interest in serving those specific communities with which she is involved, and the community at large. Before coming to Chatham’s Interior Architecture programs, Ms. Jackson most recently worked as an interior designer for a Bellevue architectural firm. Her design training and experience allowed Ms. Jackson to effectively select and specify the interior components that really finish off a project. She often served as the point of contact for clients and other design and construction professionals before, during and after the execution of various architectural projects. In addition to her interior design work, Ms. Jackson has served as an adjunct instructor in the Interior Design and Facility Management Departments of La Roche College, where she devised curricula for and taught courses including New Student Seminar, Human and Environmental Factors, and Project Communication Methods. As a non-traditional student leader, Ms. Jackson also created and oversaw a mentor program to help pair incoming students with more experienced students to guide them in their first semester. Ms. Jackson is the Faculty Advisor to the Chatham ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Student Chapter. She has served on the Board of Directors of the PA West Chapter of ASID and also served as Career Day chairperson and committee member. Ms. Jackson was also a founding mother, fund raiser, and office manager of The Glen Montessori School in Emsworth, which is still going strong a quarter of a century later. Her educational fund raising career included stints as Director of the Annual Fund at Duquesne University and as a development office staff member at Point Park University. Since she enjoys working with students, Ms. Jackson has served on several design juries at local colleges, and has also volunteered to be a community judge for a local high school’s senior projects, as well as participating in various educational and youth-oriented activities at a local church. Ms. Jackson holds bachelor’s degrees from Grove City College (B.A. Business Administration, magna cum laude) and La Roche College (B.S.I.D. Interior Design, summa cum laude). In her spare time, Ms. Jackson enjoys reading, gardening, creative writing and the creation of collages. She is a Pittsburgh native who currently resides in Allison Park.
