Academic Advising
The Advising Office assists both students and faculty regarding academic questions and issues. While faculty serve as the primary advisors for students, the Director of Academic Advising and Career Counseling administers the advising program, offers additional advising to students, assigns students to advisors, handles change of advisor requests, and serves as the first "point of call" for more complicated issues including incompletes, leaves from the University, and academic difficulties.

ADVISING OFFICE STAFF
Nancy Ferrari is the Director of Academic Advising and Career Counseling; her office is located in the PACE Center, 3rd floor, JKM Library, and her phone number is 412-365-2762. Students with questions or concerns should contact her for assistance.
ADVISING MISSION
The Chatham University advising program responds to student needs in a timely and conscientious manner, while recognizing the individuality of each student's situation. Although students are ultimately responsible for their own academic progress, every undergraduate student should be given the opportunity to work with an advisor who appreciates her unique interests and goals, who is knowledgeable about academic policies, and who is able to refer students to appropriate campus resources. Through these services, advisors help students as they develop academically, professionally, and personally.
IT'S A MAJOR DECISION!
As students begin their college experience, they are often confused by the overwhelming number of career and major choices available to them. This is a complex decision!
At Chatham we offer assistance in a number of ways. “Undecided” students are advised by the Director of Academic Advising and Career Counseling. They meet regularly with her to discuss their options, take various career-related inventories, and use the DISCOVER career-guidance and information software. Meanwhile, they take courses in a variety of disciplines to help them discover their strengths. We also have a one-credit course, Career Exploration, which guides students as they make the major decision. Students are encouraged to get hands-on experience in a field of interest by doing service learning or an internship.
All of these opportunities are designed to help the Chatham student develop an academic and professional plan which will help her become a World Ready Woman.
