Frequently asked Questions
When can I transfer?
Chatham University accepts transfer students for both the fall and spring semesters.

How do I apply?
The online application is available at www.chatham.edu/admissions/apply.cfm. There is also a paper application that can be mailed upon request. Please contact the admissions office toll free at 800.837.1290.

In addition to the admissions application, letter of recommendation and essay, official high school transcript* and official transcripts from each college or university attended are required for admission.

*Transfer students with more than 24 transferrable credits do not need to provide their official high school transcript.

How many credits and what courses will transfer?
Transfer credits are accepted from accredited colleges and universities where the student has earned a C or higher. A preliminary evaluation of transfer credit is made at the time of admission to provide an indication of class standing. A final evaluation is made by the Chatham registrar before registration.

How can I complete a Five-Year Master’s Program?
Depending on the number and type of transfer credits accepted, undergraduate transfer students may be able to accelerate the completions of a bachelor's and master's degree in as few as three years.

Is financial aid available?
Need based aid is available for eligible transfer students. The free application for federal student aid (fafsa) should be completed at the time of application to the college.

With no additional application, transfer students can receive up to $12,000 per year in merit scholarship based on their academic performance at their previous institution. Those students involved in Phi Theta Kappa can also receive an additional $2,000 in scholarship.

Will I work with an advisor?
All transfer students are assigned faculty advisors who help clarify Chatham graduation requirements on an individual basis. Transfer students must be enrolled at Chatham for a minimum of 3 semesters and successfully complete 45 credits for graduation.

Will I fit in on campus?
More than 25% of Chatham students are transfer students. Chatham is a beautiful, friendly and diverse campus where it is easy to find your niche and feel comfortable. Our small classes allow you to make quick connections inside the classroom with faculty and students.

Will I receive a HP Laptop PC?
All full-time incoming first year students and full-time transfer students receive a Hewlett Packard Tablet PC. Please contact Information Technology Services or visit http://www.chatham.edu/O4NU for additional information on the Chatham Tablet Program or to answer any questions regarding the technology resources at Chatham.
