Kayla Averell '15 Pittsburgh, PA Hi my name is Kayla Averell and I am a freshman at Chatham this year. I went to high school in Pittsburgh at North Hills and when I visited Chatham for the first time I fell in love. The campus is beautiful, students receive a lot of attention due to the small class sizes, and it's such a friendly community. I am majoring in Biology and I hope to be accepted into Chatham's Physician Assistant Program in a few years. I am running cross country and I hope to get involved with some of the many opportunites Chatham offers. Feel free to e-mail me anytime! kaverell@chatham.edu |
Morgan Becer '14 Ligonier, PA Hi! My name is Morgan Becer, I am a currently a sophomore at Chatham University and am majoring in Exercise Science. I am a Chatham Ambassador and a part of the Cougars Varsity Ice Hockey team. I chose Chatham because as soon as I stepped onto the historic Shadyside campus, I felt at home. I also enjoy spending time in the gym which is another reason that I fell in love with Chatham. The Athletic and Fitness Center is one of my favorite buildings on campus! Our AFC features a fitness room with plenty of cardio and weight training equipment, two squash courts, a rock climbing wall, several dance/aerobic studios, an Olympic size swimming pool, a hot tub, steam room and sauna as well as a gym and indoor track on the upper floors! Chatham was the best choice for me both as an athlete and a student. |
Kan Chau '15 Philadelphia, PA Kan Chau is a first year student at Chatham University studying Chemistry from Philadelphia, PA. Born in Hong Kong, Kan moved to the United States at age 12 and adopted an American name, Amy. Kan is hardworking and talented. She plays many instruments including viola, flute, and piano. Kan loves to listen to music and talk to friends. Kan looks forward to working with students and staffs in Chatham University and hopes to make many friends. |
Cory Doman '14 Rockwood, PA Buongiorno! This is Miss Cory Ann reporting from the Admissions Office at Chatham University! I am from a little place called Rockwood, PA. It is literally right down the road from Seven Springs Ski Resort! I am officially a Second Year at Chatham working on campus as an Ambassador, a Communications Department Tutor and as a Resident Assistant. I am a Professional Broadcast Communications and Public Relations major with Business Marketing minor. I am going to be famous one day, but since you cannot major in that, I am at Chatham University preparing for the glory—networking and practicing for fame. I am even living in a renovated mansion! (3 out of the 4 residence halls at Chatham are actually historic homes that have been donated to the University including Fickes, Laughlin, and Rea!) because I need to know the complete ins and outs of being famous! So come on down and explore what Chatham and the city of Pittsburgh has to offer! Until then, Ciao Bella! |
Tessa Eline'14 Latrobe, PA Hi! I am Tess, from Latrobe, PA (which is home of the banana split, mind you.) I am a graduate of the Greater Latrobe High School Class of 2010, and an Arts Management major here at Chatham University, my new home-away-from-home! Within my major, I am studying both general business courses as well as art history, which I have found to be a great combination of my interests. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns, anything from art history/management to orchid growing! You can reach me at teline@chatham.edu |
Stevie Greek '13 Delta, PA Ambassador Coordinator Hello! My name is Stevie Greek and I am currently a junior at Chatham studying Interior Architecture. I grew up on a farm in historic Delta, Pennsylvania, but decided I wanted to make my way to the “big city” when I transferred to Chatham University as a sophomore. To me, Chatham’s location is really the best of both worlds. The campus itself has all of the rolling hills, green grass and beautiful trees of a country setting, but walk out to either end of Woodland Road and you are right in the great Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Shadyside and Squirrel Hill! But more than that, Chatham has become a place where I truly feel that I belong and our unique learning community continues to inspire me to reach my full potential as a student, as a leader and an individual. Aside from being a Coordinator for the Ambassador program, I’ve been involved with the Chatham Choir as the Vice President, Chatham ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Student Chapter, the Cougar K-nector Mentor Program, Chatham Music Club and as a charter member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honors Society. I have loved every minute of my time at Chatham so far, and I can’t wait to show you what Chatham is all about! Please email me at Sgreek@chatham.edu—I’d love to answer any questions you have, or help you get set up with a personalized Chatham tour or overnight visit! |
Jamie Hargrove '13 Pittsburgh, PA Hello, my name is Jamie Hargrove and I am a biology major. As a native of Pittsburgh I love going to our public libraries, attending festivals at the Point, and going to the various neighborhood cultural festival. I chose to attend Chatham because I liked the small class sizes and the beautiful campus. Over the past two years I have grown to know many of the science and mathematics faculty members whom I enjoy as teachers and as people. I spend a majority of my time in Braun, and I have found that the faculty there is always willing to talk to a student in need, even those they don't know. I like taking long walks around Squirrel Hill and Shady Side. My goal for the future is to become a bioengineer. |
Emily Kocian '15 Pittsburgh, PA Hello! My name is Emily Kocian and this is my first year at Chatham! I graduated from Shaler Area High School this past June. At Shaler I was involved in the Art Honor Society, and Ecology Club. I also participated in many extracurricular events. I chose Chatham because I did not want to go to a large school where I would become just another number. I first discovered Chatham at a college fair when I was in tenth grade. The one piece of information that I always remember from that first encounter was how in the spring the students take off a day from classes and help the staff to plant flowers around the campus. It seemed like such a simple thing to do, but most colleges do not have traditions as kindhearted as that. Just one of the things that I really am looking forward to at Chatham is the food at Anderson Dining hall. The food that I have tasted at various events has been so amazing! What I love even more about it is the fact that it is actually healthy for you! Besides hanging out in Anderson, I will be majoring in Psychology along with classes in Mandarin Chinese and art. Chatham was one of the few small schools that offered both Psychology and Mandarin. I cannot wait to begin my first year at Chatham University! |
Ashlee Pavetti '15 Vandergrift, PA My name is Ashlee Pavetti and I am a sophomore here at Chatham University. I graduated from Apollo Ridge High School with around 81 students, which is why I chose Chatham. Chatham is a small school, and I love the connection you get with other people here. I'm majoring in Science Education with hopes to teach high school Anatomy and Human Biology. Last year I was on the Volleyball team here at Chatham, and enjoyed the trips to other schools the day of games. I'm involved in the Chatham Student Government, Chatham Activities Board, and the Safety Committee. I hold three jobs currently working not only in the Admission Office, but also in the Facilities Office. On weekends I work at Ross dress for less at the Pittsburgh Mills mall. My main focus is to get others involved in Chatham. That is why I chose to be an Ambassador, so that I can share my personal experiences and my take on Chatham life in the bubble of a community.

Haven Purbaugh '15 Somerset, PA Hello! My name is Haven Purbaugh and I am from Somerset, PA. I graduated from Somerset Area High School in 2011. I am majoring in Social Work and my minor is Women’s Studies. I am excited to start classes, meet new friends, and live in the big city! Alexandria Ratliff '13 Johnstown, PA Hi, my name is Alexandra Ratliff and I am a junior this year at Chatham. My major is Environmental Science. I play volleyball for Chatham University; this will be my third year playing for them. I also am the treasurer/secretary of my class, treasurer of SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee), a K-Nector (Chatham mentor), and a staff member of our newspaper, the Communique. I am interested in a variety activities including reading, writing, hiking, traveling, and just hanging out with my friends and teammates. I chose Chatham because they have a good environmental science program, a great community, and a beautiful campus. When I talked to someone from Chatham or walk around Chatham there is always a friendly face, whether it be from the community around, a professor, or another student, to see and say hi to. Hope to see you around! :) |
Anne Reiber '15 Portersville, PA My name is Anne Reiber and I am a freshman at Chatham University. I graduated from Slippery Rock Area High School with about 180 students. I live in Portersville, Pennsylvania which is a very small town. Everyone knew everyone, sort of like one big family. That is why I chose Chatham. From the moment I stepped onto the campus I felt a part of something. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education with hopes to open my own preschool one day. I am on the soccer team at Chatham and love it. I also am very interested in music and take voice lessons. Chatham is a wonderful place and will make you never want to leave. |

Natalie Vazquez '13 Amherst, NY ¡Hola! My name is Natalie Vazquez and I am a junior this year at Chatham University. I am from Amherst, New York in the Buffalo area. I was speechless when I first drove through Chatham’s campus. I choose to study at Chatham University because I knew that the small class sizes would help me out immensely. The location and program for my majors gave me even more reasons for me to pursue my college experience at Chatham. I am a double major in Film/Digital Technology and Emerging Media Arts. I am a Chatham Scholar, a student government class representative, a member of the Softball team, a Cougar K-Nector, an Ambassador and participate in the Catholic Bible Study.

Elise Zavadak '13 New Kensington, PA Ambassador Coordinator My name is Elise Zavadak and I’m halfway through my college experience! I am aspiring to a major in Biochemistry with my ultimate life goal of being a doctor. My first two years at Chatham have been the ultimate college experience. Through the Scholars’ program, Chatham Ambassadors, Cougar Softball, Student Activities, being an Orientation Leader and so many other things, I have learned more about myself than I ever could have imagined. Chatham is everything I expected it to be and SO much more. With endless opportunities to succeed in the classroom and out, Chatham surely prepares you for the “real world” as a World Ready Woman! I know you probably hear this all of the time, but believe me – Chatham is everything that it claims to be and then some!
