First Year Transition
by Hannah Galvin
My name is Hannah Galvin. This year is my first year at Chatham. I'm majoring in Elementary and Special Education. I'm into the second semester and all settled in. I'm from Elmira, NY, about five hours north of Pittsburgh.
I was a little nervous leaving my family to go so far away, but I've been so happy here at Chatham! It was weird at first living with strangers (I live in a triple with two other girls). Having roommates has been one of the coolest experiences I've had so far, though. I've learned so many things about myself just by sharing a room and spending so much time with my roommates.
Another aspect of college that I was totally freaked out about was the work. I was terrified that I was going to have so much work to do that I would never get it done. That is not the case at all, fortunately! I have a lot of down time during the day to do my work. Being at Chatham, I've learned how to manage my time in a very constructive way.
Although a huge change from high school to college, Chatham has made my transition easy and unforgettable! If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at chathamambassador@chatham.edu!

Hello! I am so happy that Chatham University is going great for you. Hopefully we will be room mates or close friends at Chatham next year. I am hoping to attend Chatham next year. Hearing your story of your first year in Chatham has made me less nervous of attending college. Hope your year stays great!
