Athletics & Fitness Center
Greetings from the Director of the Athletics & Fitness Center
Welcome to the Athletic and Fitness Center. At the AFC we strive to support your fitness and wellness goals. Our staff can direct you to a wide range of exercise options that will support both the experienced power lifter and some one just beginning a fitness program. We encourage everyone to ask questions about the facility and services so that we can help them achieve their goals. Click here for details on our facilities and hours.

Physical Education Courses
Physical Education Courses (PED) are offered for credit by Chatham College for Women. Undergraduate students can choose from approximately fifteen course options each semester. Classes include: Yoga, weight training for women, squash, step aerobics, swimming, water fitness, and self defense among others. Classes are taught by qualified fitness instructors with teaching experience in their discipline.
Chatham faculty, staff and graduate students may register for PED classes, if space permits, for a small fee.
Contact Dr. Ron Giles at email@example.com with any questions about Physical Education Courses.
Rock climbing is one of the best forms of physical activity. It requires physical strength, agility and cardiovascular fitness. Climbers also enjoy the problem-solving nature of the activity that allows for increasing challenge as climbing skills develop. The Chatham wall offers paths that are perfect for new climbers as well as advanced paths to challenge experienced climbers.
The climbing is a 25 foot climb with five separate rope areas. Each area includes multiple path options and one climb with an overhang. The wall is open various hours Mondays through Thursdays and staffed by certified belayers. Please refer to the Hours of Operation page for specific times. All climbers must be on belay.
For more information about the climbing hours or how to learn to climb, contact Dani Pais at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Outdoor Recreational Activities
Chatham’s most famous alumna, Rachel Carson, was passionate about nature and the outdoors. Even before writing the influencial book, Silent Spring, she wrote about her love for nature and the beauty to be found outdoors.
Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. – Rachel Carson
Chatham continues to recognize the important relationship between people and nature. Outdoor recreational activities are planned at least once a month and include a range of activities. Recent trips include white-water rafting, horseback riding, overnight camping and hiking trips and skiing.
