Directions to Chatham University
Chatham is located between the Shadyside and Squirrel Hill residential districts of Pittsburgh. The campus is six miles from downtown Pittsburgh, the urban anchor of Western Pennsylvania. Please refer to the following for instructions on how to get to Chatham. From the Pennsylvania Turnpike (east or west):
- Take exit 6 and follow I-376 (the Parkway) west towards Pittsburgh. (The campus is 12 miles from exit 6.) Continue on the Parkway through the Squirrel Hill tunnel and exit immediately after the tunnel at exit 74 - Squirrel Hill. Merge to the extreme left and follow the exit ramp to the left toward Squirrel Hill.
- Proceed to the multiway intersection (Forward and Murray Avenues) and bear left onto Murray Avenue. Follow Murray Avenue to the end where it meets up with Wilkins Avenue.
- Turn right on Wilkins and within one-half block turn left onto Woodland Road which leads directly to campus.
From the North
- Take I-79 to I-2376. After passing through the Fort Pitt Tunnel, stay in the right lane and continue on I-376 toward Monroeville.
- Continue on the Parkway to exit 74 - Squirrel Hill. Merge to the extreme left and follow the exit ramp to the left (toward Squirrel Hill).
- Proceed to the multi-way intersection (Forward and Murray Avenues) and bear left onto Murray Avenue.
- Turn right on Wilkins and within one-half block turn left onto Woodland Road which leads directly to campus.
From the South:
- Take I-79 to I-279. On the downtown side of the Fort Pitt Tunnel, I-279 becomes I-376. Follow I-376 to exit 5 - Squirrel Hill (old exit 8). Merge to the extreme left and follow the exit ramp to the left (toward Squirrel Hill).
- Proceed to the multiway intersection (Forward and Murray Avenues) and bear left onto Murray Avenue.
- Turn right on Wilkins and within one-half block turn left onto Woodland Road which leads directly to campus.
From the Airport:
- The Pittsburgh International Airport is served by several major airlines with flights to and from most cities in the United States. Flight time between Pittsburgh and Boston, Chicago, New York City, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, or St. Louis is 1 1/2 hours or less. Chatham is 23 miles from the airport. At least an hour should be allowed if visitors plan to use limousine service from the airport.
- From the airport, take Route 60 toward Pittsburgh. Route 60 will become I-376.
- From the right lane, exit to I-376 towards Monroeville.
- Follow I-376 to exit 5 - Squirrel Hill (old exit 8).
- Merge to the extreme left and follow the exit ramp to the left (toward Squirrel Hill). Proceed to the multiway intersection (Forward and Murray Avenues) and bear left onto Murray Avenue.
- Turn right on Wilkins and within one-half block turn left onto Woodland Road, which leads directly to campus.

From the North (Route 28)
- Follow Route 28 to the Highland Park Bridge Exit.
Stay in the left lane across bridge, take Washington Boulevard exit. - At intersection, turn right to continue on Washington Boulevard
- Follow for approximately two miles.
- After passing Hamilton Avenue and continuing under a railway bridge, pass the Port Authority Bus Garage entry. The Chatham Eastside parking entry will be the next right.
From the North (Route I-279)
- Follow I-279 (Parkway North) south to I-579.
- Take the 7th Avenue exit after crossing the Veterans Bridge.
- Turn left toward Mellon Arena/Bigelow Boulevard.
- Turn left at light; stay to the right and follow Bigelow Boulevard/ Route 380.
- At third light, stay in left lane and follow North Craig Street to Fifth Avenue.
- Turn left on Fifth Avenue and follow for approximately two miles. Continue through intersection with Penn Avenue; Chatham Eastside is on the left corner.
- After intersection and passing the building, turn left into the first parking lot entry.
From the South (I-79)
- Follow I-79 north to Exit 59A/I-279 toward Pittsburgh.
- Follow right lane through Fort Pitt Tunnel and across Fort Pitt Bridge; turn right onto I-376 East.
- Take exit 2A to merge onto Forbes Ave through Oakland.
- Turn left at S. Bellefield Ave (next to the Carnegie Museum).
- Turn right on Fifth Avenue and follow for approximately two miles. Continue through intersection with Penn Avenue; Chatham Eastside is on the left corner.
- After intersection and passing the building, turn left into the first parking lot entry.
From the South (Route 51)
- Follow Route 51 to the Liberty Tunnels.
- Turn right into Liberty Tunnels, cross Liberty Bridge.
- Take the I-579/Bigelow Boulevard Exit.
- After entering I-579, the exit onto Bigelow Boulevard is on the right.
- At third light, stay in left lane and follow North Craig Street to Fifth Avenue.
- Turn left on Fifth Avenue and follow for approximately two miles. Continue through intersection with Penn Avenue; Chatham Eastside is on the left corner.
- After intersection and passing the building, turn left into the first parking lot entry.
From the East
- Follow I-376 (Parkway East) to Exit 8B/Wilkinsburg and merge onto Ardmore Boulevard/PA Route 8/Penn Avenue.
- Follow Route 8/Penn Avenue for approximately three miles.
- Continue through Penn Avenue intersection with Fifth Avenue.
- Chatham Eastside is on the corner of Penn and Fifth avenues.
- Turn right onto Washington Boulevard. The parking lot entry is the first driveway on your left.
From the West (Airport Area)
- Follow Route 60/Routes 22-30/I-279 toward Pittsburgh.
- Follow right lane through Fort Pitt Tunnel and across Fort Pitt Bridge; • turn right onto I-376 East.
- Take exit 2A to merge onto Forbes Ave through Oakland.
