Ball Room Dancing

Brush up on your dance skills in any one of these areas with our dance staff
Technical Theater
Do you like set design, scenery construction, lighting, sound and costuming? This class is for you.
Puppetry
Learn puppetry basics and presentation, create your own puppets and perform.
Musical Theater
A Chatham Day Camp standard! Be a part of a full length musical production performed at the end of the six week camp. This option only for six week campers.
What a Character
Develop a character from start to finish through research, acting, costuming, makeup and staging.
Drama Club
All the basics of acting, voice projection, staging and more.
Animation
Learn the basics of computer animation.
Digital Magic
Capture and edit video for a DVD project. Experience using a light board and sound board. This class is for 6 week campers.
Digital Photo
Learn the basics of Digital Photograph using Photoshop. You must provide a digital camera and USB cable for this course. This class is a Major Class and meets for 2 periods.
Web Backgrounds/Layouts
Learn to give your personal website a new look using web page creating software.
3 D Art
Practice the basics of 3 D art and design using a variety of materials
clay, wire and everyday items!
2 D Art
Draw and work pencil, colored pencils, paints, charcoal etc. Learn about color, line and perspective.
Art Appreciation
Take an artistic tour through time and learn about artists and their work.
Cartooning
Create your own sequential art. Study the basics of the latest cartoons and comic books.
Natural Art
Use different media to practice art using items from nature or art projects about nature.
Heraldry
Study the symbolism in coats of arms and create your own personal coat of arms.
Architecture in detail
Study styles of architecture and use the Chatham campus and surrounding area to look at interior and exterior architectural detail. Students should have a digital camera for this course.
Beginning /Advanced Classes in
Piano, Woodwinds, Strings, Brass, Percussion, Harp, Guitar, Orchestra and Jazz Band
Classes with our musicians for beginners or advancing students. Harps and Pianos are provided, other instruments need to be brought by student. Rental information available.
Garage Band
This class is new and still being designed. Hands on experiences and digital band are all possibilities here.
Drum Circle, Chomp and Eurhythmics
A great class that allows you to feel the beat and experience music in new ways!
Essential Ipod
A new way to look at music appreciation! Find out about all genres of music and pick some essential pieces for your Ipod that will show your musical versatility! Must have your own Ipod or MP 3 player.
Chorus
Be a part of a singing ensemble. Work on the basics of choral singing and perform for camp!
Show Choir
Its singing and dancing combined to produce an energetic choral show! Little dance experience required.
Color Guard
Have fun learning the precision and skill of color guard. It is putting motion to music. A variety of flags and materials will be used this year. This is a great class for exercise too!
Journaling
Take time to learn about personal journal writing and how journaling can be the place to begin all your creative ideas and personal stories.
Scrapbooking
Save all those special memories in a special way. Create your own personal scrapbook during your time at camp. Learn the fun and creative techniques.
Press Time
Become a newspaper writer and editor. Polish your skills by writing articles for a Summer Camp newsletter and more.
Desk Top Publishing
Learn some basics of desk top publishing and use the articles from our Press Time class to publish our camp newsletter.
Fiction writing
Are you the next J. K. Rowling? Do you have a story just waiting to be put to paper? Here is your chance to shine by learning the basics of writing fiction.
Poetry, Lyrics and Me
Budding poet or songwriter? Find your inspiration and write it down as poetry and lyrics!
Play Writing
Practice skills used to write a script for a great performance! Include staging directions and more!
Language
French/Spanish/other
Develop you language skills in a variety of languages. Choose the language that you want to learn. Selection of languages will be available at registration.
*Travel Arts
A class inspired by the yearly Global Focus of Chatham University. Study the geography, culture, language, music, dance and arts history of one of two different countries – Germany or Brazil.
*Environmental Academy
Inspired by Chatham University’s connection with Chatham alumnae Rachel Carson’29, we embark on environmental journeys of wonder, discovery, writing and art. Each participant will receive a certificate each year of completion.

A variety of sports on our beautifully landscaped quad! It’s the best of summer sports at summer camp!
Individual Sport Options
Each class will be an opportunity to perfect skills in the sport while offering a chance to exercise the body too!
