Carol M. Patton, Dr.PH, APRN, BC, CRNP, CNE
Program Director
Nursing Professor
Dr. Patton offers 31 years experience in the Healthcare Industry. She has taught nursing skills, primary prevention and outcome assessment and research. She has managed faculty development, designed, promoted and developed research and nursing scholarships. Dr. Patton has also developed nursing programs for accreditation for Certified Nurse Educators, oversaw health promotion, and offered consulting services. Dr. Patton received her Doctor of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health (1995); Master of Science in Nursing, West Virginia University (1980); Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Pennsylvania State University (1975); Certification in Nurse Education; Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Patton is an active member of many organizations including: American Public Health Association; Pennsylvania Public Health Association; American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American College of Nurse Practitioners; Sigma Theta Tau International; Delta Omega; American Cancer Society; Ministries in Nicaragua; Advanced Practice Registered Nurses. Dr. Patton has presented nationally and has published over 25 articles and conducted International research focusing on primary prevention in Nicaragua. Since coming to Chatham University in 2005, Dr. Patton has successfully designed, implemented, promoted and instructed three (3) new degree programs, the RN – BSN (fully accredited October 2007), the Master of Nurse in Nursing - MSN (fully accredited October 2007) and the Doctor of Nursing Practice - DNP.

Toni Lee Hebda, PhD, MSIS, RN
Nursing Professor
Dr. Hebda earned her nursing diploma from Washington Hospital SON, her BSN from Duquesne University, graduate degrees in nursing education and information science and her doctorate in education from the University of Pittsburgh. She has spent the bulk of her career in nursing education having taught at the diploma, associate, baccalaureate and graduate levels. Dr. Hebda has worked in medical, psychiatric, pediatric, orthopedic, and information service settings. She has a long-standing interest in nursing informatics that pre-dates her dissertation on computer-assisted instruction. She was a co-founder of the Pittsburgh-based group Tri-State Nursing Computer Network and member of the American Medical Informatics Association and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). She also is a member of the American Nurses Association, Pennsylvania Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing. She serves as a reviewer for MERLOT, Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Teaching Online, and the On-line Journal of Nursing Informatics. Dr. Hebda has presented nationally and internationally and co-authored Handbook of Informatics for Nurse & Healthcare Professionals, now in its fourth edition. She joined the Chatham faculty in 2006.

Diane F. Hunker, PhD, MBA, RN
Nursing Professor
Dr. Hunker joined the Chatham University Nursing Program faculty in August of 2007. Dr. Hunker received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1989), her Masters in Business Administration (1994) and her Ph. D. in Nursing (2007) from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Hunker began her career as a Staff Nurse specializing in Maternal-Infant Health and Critical Care Obstetrics. Throughout her career, she has also worked extensively in Healthcare Information Systems, Nursing Informatics, Project Management and Design, Sales Management, and Finance. She is an active member of the following organizations: Sigma Theta Tau International, AWHONN, Eastern Nursing Research Society, National League for Nursing, and the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association. Prior to completing her Ph. D., she worked as a Senior Manager/Controller for Siemens Medical Solutions. Dr. Hunker’s research interests include maternal- infant health and graduate nursing education. Dr. Hunker's teaching experience has been focused on graduate level nursing education. Dr. Hunker offers a unique aspect to the curriculum with her experience in informatics and business management as well as traditional nursing practice, education, and research. |

Michelle Dellaria Doas, EdD, MSN, BSN, RN
Nursing Professor
Dr. Doas has been the most recent addition to the Chatham University Nursing Program faculty in the fall of 2007. Michelle began her nursing career at Allegheny General Hospital. She began her nurse educator role in 1986 at West Virginia Northern Community College. Dr. Doas has also taught at Community College of Allegheny County, LaRoche College, University of Pittsburgh, Clarion University, UPMC Shadyside, and Chatham University in the capacity of adjunct. Michelle has also had the opportunity to experience nurse leadership roles as Associate Director of the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing and Associate Dean/Nursing at the Community College of Allegheny County. Dr. Doas brings to the classroom a wealth of knowledge and experience but her heart remains with the patients as she continues to work as a part-time staff nurse.

John Mumma, BA, BS, PhD
Nursing Professor (part-time)
Dr. Mumma received bachelor degrees in philosophy and mathematics from Cornell University in 1996, and received a PhD in philosophy from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006. Working on the boundary between philosophy and mathematics, John has presented nationally and is currently a Lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University.
