UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing Entrance Exam Review Course

The UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing utilizes the Psychological Services Bureau (PSB) Nursing School Aptitude Examination as a tool to measure your readiness for success in nursing school. The UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing requires a score of 80% or higher on the exam in order to be considered for admission.

In collaboration with the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing, the Chatham University College for Continuing and Professional Studies (CCPS) has developed courses to help you improve your math, natural sciences, or reading and vocabulary scores on the Entrance Exam. You are eligible to take the class if you received a score between 64-79% on the exam. CCPS is offering courses both online and on ground at the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing.

Course Structure

Each course is 8 weeks long. Courses are offered online or in the classroom (on ground) at the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing in the Motor Square Garden Building (5900 Baum Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA. 15206). Topics covered in the Science course include biological chemistry, cell biology, and human disease. Topics covered in the Math course include basic statistics, interpretation of charts and graphs, and algebra. Topics covered in the Reading & Vocabulary course include vocabulary building, critical reading skills, word usage, and textual meaning. In the final week of each course, you will review all material covered and complete nursing practice exams. Each course is pass/fail, and you must pass the final nursing practice exam with a score of 80% or above in order to pass the course.

Cost: $399

Students wishing to enroll in the Entrance Exam Preparation Course for Science, Math, or Reading and Vocabulary should complete the online registration application below. If you wish to enroll in more than one course, you should complete a separate online registration form for each course. Payment must be made by credit card at the time of the registration.

Cancellation Policy

At the discretion of CCPS, courses may be cancelled. CCPS will inform registered students of course cancellation by email and by phone. Students will automatically be registered for the next course offering, or can request a refund of their registration fee.

Registrations cancelled in writing prior to two weeks before the beginning of the class may receive a refund. Cancellations within two weeks of the start of class are not eligible for a refund.
