Interior Architecture Accreditation

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly FIDER) is an independent, non-profit, accrediting organization responsible for setting standards and evaluating degree granting interior design programs. Professional programs accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation provide academic preparation for entry-level interior design practice. As of May 2008, there are 163 Council-accredited programs in the U.S. and Canada. Only 6 programs are accredited by the Council at the graduate level.

A minimum of two classes must graduate from a program before an educational institution can submit an application for accreditation. The Master of Interior Architecture program at Chatham University was established in 2005 and intends to seek accreditation in the future.
