Computer and Software Requirements
Students are required to purchase a portable computer and software to be used in IAR 320/620 Interior Architecture III, IAR 325/625 Interior Architecture IV, and IAR 498/499 Tutorial or IAR 650 Graduate Tutorial. The computer you purchase must be able to support AutoCAD, REVIT, and VIZ. Minimum computer specifications and required software are listed below. Prices (based on 2006 quotes) are for budgeting purposes only. Computer specifications are listed based on the maximum requirements needed to run the necessary design software programs. Deviation from these specifcations may impact performance.
System Requirements for IAR Design Applications
- Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional (SP2 or higher)
- Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® XP or Intel™ Core® 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
- 2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)
- 40 GB Free Disk Space (to allow application installation plus 2GB free swap space)
- Hardware-accelerated OpenGL® and Direct3D® supported
- 1280x1024 24 bit color display capability
- Graphics Hardware that supports Shader Modeler 3.0 (see compatibility list)
- DirectX® 9.0c
- DVD-RW drive
- Microsoft Windows–compliant pointing device (optimized IntelliMouse)
Note: Apple® computers based on Intel processors and running Microsoft operating systems will run Autodesk software, but are not currently supported by the vendor. 64-bit machines are compatible with all of the design software, but may run in 32-bit mode.

Downloads of some software may be available through AutoDesk. In addition, Studica and JourneyEd are educational software sites that offer student discounts.
