Can I study abroad?
The Modern Language program offers two study abroad opportunities that are directly related to the academic program. French students can take a spring semester of study in Angers, France at the Centre international d’etudes francaises (CIDEF), and Spanish students can take a semester in Costa Rica at the Institute for Central American Development Studies (ICADS). Chatham also sponsors study abroad programs at Seoul Women’s University, Doshisha Women’s College in Kyoto, Japan, American University in Bulgaria, and American University in Rome. Chatham students can study abroad with programs from other colleges and universities.
Chatham Abroad is short term study abroad program for all Chatham students during Maymester. Chatham faculty design and lead these month long courses to countries around the world. Past Chatham Abroad courses have traveled to: Belize, Italy, Morocco, Iceland, India, Germany, Peru, Brazil, Ireland, Mexico, the Czech Republic, and England.
What if I am interested in other foreign languages?
Chatham University is a member of the Pittsburgh Council of Higher Education (PCHE) which allows full-time Chatham students to cross register (for no additional tuition charge) at other colleges and universities in Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh offers an extensive schedule of language courses, and these are available to full-time Chatham students through cross registration.
