Entry-Level DPT Admission Requirements
Applying to the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program
Beginning on August 1, 2008, applicants to Chatham University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program must use the new
Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). PTCAS will allow applicants to apply to professional
programs using a single online application, one set of transcripts, and one set of references. Applications may
be submitted at www.ptcas.org.
Application deadlines for Fall 2009 entry into the program
- Early Decision Deadline – October 1, 2008
Early Decision Interview Date: November 15, 2008 (by invitation)
- Regular Decision Deadline – December 1, 2008
Regular Interview Date - January 24, 2009 (by invitation)
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative prerequisite course grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale; grades of D are not acceptable in prerequisite courses
- Overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
- Satisfactory score on GRE
- Required prerequisite courses
- Biology with lab - two terms
- Chemistry with lab - two terms
- Physics with lab - two terms
- Animal or Human Physiology (prefer human) - one term*
- Human Anatomy - one term*
- Introduction to Psychology
- Developmental Psychology
- Statistics
*If taking anatomy with physiology, both Anatomy & Physiology I and II are
necessary to fulfill the anatomy and physiology requirement
- On-campus writing sample and interview
- Official transcripts verifying cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above upon applicant’s acceptance of an offer of admission
- Evidence of volunteer/work experience in a physical therapy setting
- Three references: two academic and one physical therapist

Chatham University has entered into "Articulation Agreements" with a select group of
Colleges and Universities. These agreements provide for additional student pre-professional advisement
and possible priority admission status for candidates with exceptional applications, demonstrating
academic preparation above the minimal acceptable standards. Agreements exist with the following
institutions for the 2008-2009 academic year: Allegheny College, Baldwin Wallace College, Indiana
University of Pennsylvania, James Madison University, Mount Aloysius College, Mt. Vernon Nazarene College, Stephens College, Thiel College, Washington and Jefferson College, and Waynesburg College. Applicants from these institutions are advised to discuss the articulation requirements with their advisor and/or the graduate admissions counselor at Chatham University.
