Admission Requirements

  • Masters degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field (minimum 48 credit hours)
  • Official transcripts from each college/university you have attended
  • 3.2 minimum GPA
  • GRE test scores (general)
  • GRE test scores (psychology)
  • Completed application form
  • Curriculum vitae or resume
  • Personal statement
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Interview (conducted on campus)
  • Payment of non-refundable $45 application fee. Apply online without fee.

Important Dates

  • Application deadline: January 15
  • On-campus interview: early to mid February (dates tba)
  • Applicant informed of admission decision: March 15
  • Applicant informs Chatham of acceptance or decline of offer: April 15
    * We will accept and review applications after this date, as space is available in the cohort.

Course Prerequisites for Admission

Applicants are expected to have successfully completed coursework in the areas below prior to entering the doctoral program. An applicant who is missing one of the areas may be accepted conditionally, and required to complete the prerequisite prior to entering the program. Relevant MSCP courses may be available for these applicants to take the summer before entry. The prerequisite courses are as follow:

  • Psychology of Culture and Identity or Multicultural/Diversity Issues in Counseling
  • Human Development across the Lifespan
  • Counseling Theories
  • Counseling Techniques
  • Group Counseling
  • Abnormal Psychology or Psychopathology
  • Assessment/Appraisal
  • Vocational and Career Counseling
  • Psychobiology
  • Statistics and Research Design
  • Professional Ethics
  • Supervised Counseling Field Placement (Practicum and Internship)
