Joy Ike is a talented and unique musical artist. Described as “unconventional,” Ike’s style is as honest as other fellow female artists like Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, and more. At the same time, Ike offers a twist on style inspired by her Nigerian roots. Her work is often described as her diary; reflective and honest. Known to purposely not to “pigeon-hole” her music into a singular genre, Ike has been able to create music that is incredibly diverse and unique, allowing her music to be for anyone, anywhere around the world. Her variety caters to a large range of individuals’ palates. With the combination of her intensely authentic and upfront lyrics and percussive piano playing, Joy Ike has passionately referred for her art as “Soulfolk”—a soulful approach to a style of music that is typically played by guitar and banjo players. Tri-State Indie’s Vocalist of the Year and 2013’s WYEP’s Artist of the Year award. www.joyike.com
