Sustainable Saturday: Solar Superheroes

Saturday, April 22, 2017
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Eden Hall

Cost: $15 per project; $10 if you bring your own pizza box*

Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus is a place committed to a brighter, healthier tomorrow, and guests are invited to explore how odd materials and the sun have created such a place. Similar to the solar-thermal panels that heat one of our very unique greenhouses during even the coldest months, each group will build a solar oven out of a repurposed pizza box and other common household materials. Not only will we be turning old materials into something new, but we can also cook fun foods like s’mores by only using the sun’s energy. Guests will explore Eden Hall Campus to see first-hand how we use hundreds of solar panels to power our buildings and the other unconventional materials we used to construct them. *Program fee is per take-home craft (“project”), not per participant. Lunch will be available for purchase after the event in Eden Hall's cafeteria.
