Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare and Business Management
Chatham's online, interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare and Business Management equips students who have experience or interest in healthcare with the knowledge and skills they need to advance their careers through professional positions on the business side.
The HCBM degree will prepare you to move into leadership positions, such as department director, coordinator, or front or back office manager in environments ranging from private practice to hospitals to corporate healthcare institutions. It also satisfies the requirements needed for entry into some graduate programs.
You'll take courses in the areas that local hospital directors identified as the preferred skill set: business and human resource management; communication; and information systems/database management. Courses are taught by our passionate and dedicated faculty, many of whom are also practitioners.
Courses are available in a 7-week format, and the program may be taken full- or part-time. Students can transfer up to 90 credits from college-level courses, speeding time to degree completion.
Required courses in the B.A. in Healthcare and Business Management program include:
- NUR402: Health Policy and Finance
- BUS395W: Leadership and Management
- BUS171: Information Systems and Operations
“The healthcare and business management program takes a learner-centered approach to education. Small class sizes allow for frequent interaction between instructor and students, and thoughtful assignments or projects that focus on bringing theory to practice. Students are empowered by a curriculum that is targeted to a specific set of career opportunities on one hand, and offers a broad exposure to relevant business practices on the other.”
– Tingting (Rachel) Chung, Ph.D., program director and chair of business programs
