Class of 2010
Esther Harder (MFA 2010) is a writer-teacher-juggler-of-words employed as one of the dozen or so American, Ugandan, and Rwandan faculty members at Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology, a brand new girls’ boarding school run by Rwanda Girls Initiative. As the school’s vision is that girls will graduate as inspired young leaders, Esther’s role is to ensure that they meet inspiring characters from literature, wrestle with the tough topics of young adulthood, and incorporate enough grammatical know-how so as to pass the TOEFL test at an internationally competitive level. Her previous work as Chatham’s English writing tutor for the International program as well as her concentration on Children’s Writing are in high demand in her classroom. Somehow she snags brief moments among stacks of student workbooks to continue tweaking her novel manuscripts.
