    Alix Ohlin is the author of four books, most recently SIGNS AND WONDERS and INSIDE, which was a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and named a best book of the year by iTunes.ca, Amazon.ca, and the San Francisco Chronicle.     MFA Talk: Jesmyn Ward

    Jesmyn Ward has written two novels and a memoir titled Men We Reaped. Her novel Salvage the Bones won the 2011 National Book Award for Fiction. Her fiction imagines the stories of poor black siblings growing up on the Gulf Coast, and her memoir explores the lives of her brother and four other young black men who lost their lives in her hometown.

    MFA Reading: Judith Tannenbaum

    Judith Tannenbaum has taught poetry in a wide variety of settings from primary school classrooms to maximum security prisons. She taught at San Quentin for four years in the 1980s and subsequently created Arts in Corrections’ newsletter Memo:Arts and their Manual for Artists Working in Prison (available for download on her website).     John Amen is the author of four collections of poetry. He founded and continues to edit The Pedestal Magazine: www.thepedestalmagazine.com.
