The Minor Bird submissions are open to all currently enrolled Chatham undergraduate students. There are two submission periods throughout the year: one in fall, and one in spring. We are open to a variety of genres: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and are interested in a variety of writing styles: romance, science fiction, fantasy, children’s, historical, etc. We publish writing that is polished and well-crafted, thought provoking, writing that makes readers hungry, writing that makes them want to turn the page for more.
Submission guidelines include:
Poetry: Three poems maximum.
Prose: Eight pages, 12-point font, double-spaced maximum of fiction and nonfiction. Excerpts are welcome.
Artwork: Any medium accepted – we ask artists to photograph work upon submitting, 7′x5′ or 6′x4′ in size, and 300 resolution. Five submissions per semester maximum.
Submissions should not include the writer’s name in the body of the work. The email received from students will be enough for the Editorial Board Staff to inform writers of the results. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but we ask that the Editorial Board Staff is informed immediately if the piece(s) is/are accepted elsewhere.
Submissions and questions can be sent to The Minor Bird Editor at: firstname.lastname@example.org
