Chatham Arboretum Tuition Waiver Program
Landscape Architecture students have the opportunity for student employment at the Chatham Arboretum. The arboretum, a 32-acre area on Chatham's 39-acre campus, features 115 different varieties of plant species, including the Japanese Flowering Crabapple, the River Birch, and the Kentucky Coffee tree. The arboretum provides an outdoor classroom for students in the University’s Landscape Architecture and Landscape Studies programs, as well as an inviting place to stroll and to meditate. In 1998, Chatham joined the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta (AABGA, now know as the American Public Garden Association (APGA).
Student employment opportunities consist of summer work as an assistant gardener; in return, students receive a tuition waiver for one three-credit course. The total hours permitted for the position are 198.
