Neurosurgery PA JOB ID 10146 LOCATION:Geisinger Medical Center WORK SCHEDULE:Days WORK TYPE: rotational Are you looking for the opportunity to practice great medicine in a team environment focused on patient care? If you are a detail-oriented Advanced Practitioner, able to function in changing environment and dedicated to premiere patient care, we are interested in having you join our team at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA as part of our Neurosurgery Team. Geisinger Health System’s Neuroscience Institute provides the full spectrum of state-of-the-art treatments for brain, spinal and peripheral neurosurgical and neurological problems. Using the latest endovascular, computer-guided, endoscopic, stereotactic and percutaneous techniques, and the team is dedicated to providing excellent service to their adult and pediatric patients. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Designs and provides complex teaching strategies (both formal and informal) to promote, maintain and improve health and prevent illness for the medical staff, students and community in addition to the education provided to patients, families and caregivers. 2. First or second assist for neurosurgeons and the pre and post-operative care of patients (includes setting-up the OR). 3. Participation in the call and rotation schedule includes all shifts, weekends and holidays. 4. Accurate and complete charting including proficient electronic medical record documentation, histories and physicals as well as discharge summaries. 5. Serves as a leader and role model for the professional development of peers, colleagues and other health care providers. 6. Self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency within specialty range. 7. Executes and relays medical regimens as directed by the supervising physician and/or as described in the written agreement between the physician assistant and the supervising physician. 8. Assists in all aspects of inpatient and outpatient care. 9. Serves as a clinical expert, providing direct client care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and plan of care. 10. Evaluates the patient’s progress in achieving expected outcomes, barriers to successful outcomes and provides follow-up. The successful candidate, in concert with the physician, offers comprehensive health assessments, physical examinations, and care by demonstrating a high level of expert skill in the diagnosis, treatment and management of neurosurgery patients. Additionally, this Advanced Practitioner will assess the patient and family needs while formulating and providing education, evaluating outcomes and coordinating follow-up. This unique position reports to the Chief, Neurosurgery and the Operations Manager of Neuroscience Services. The successful candidate will be actively involved in all aspects of Geisinger Health System’s Mission i.e., Heal, Teach, Discover, Serve. The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA approved physician assistant program, NCCPA certification or eligibility, and PennsylvaniaState licensure. The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners, be eligible for or hold current national certification that allows NP to work in critical care unit, med-surg units, surgical 1st assist and with all patient age populations. Must be eligible for licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Must obtain BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Working Conditions: Hospital setting, operating room, inpatient and outpatient clinic. Travel to other Geisinger entities.
