Chatham Faculty Member Deborah Delong Named American Marketing Association Distinguished Educator

PITTSBURGH- The Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Marketing Association named Deborah DeLong, Ph.D., assistant professor of marketing at Chatham University, as 2013 Distinguished Educator.

With more than 20 years of agency, consulting, corporate and academic experience. DeLong infuses her courses with experiential learning opportunities and an applied perspective to bring core marketing concepts alive. Her teaching and service philosophy emphasizes learning beyond the classroom to more effectively prepare students for the real world challenges of marketing practice.

DeLong has been an active member of the American Marketing Association since 1998 in such roles as national conference track chair, professional chapter board member and collegiate chapter faculty advisor. She is dedicated to building stronger synergies between collegiate and professional AMA communities to help cultivate exceptional local marketing talent. Her research addresses sustainability behavior within consumer and business audiences. She regularly presents her work at national conferences and is published in Journal of Applied Psychology, Marketing Management Journal, American Journal of Management, and other publications.

Before coming to Chatham, DeLong was clinical professor of marketing at Tulane University, where she designed and managed student-led consulting engagements with local and national businesses, such as Harrah’s, Lockheed Martin, Zatarain’s, Community Coffee and Oreck. Before starting her teaching career, DeLong led marketing research and business analytics efforts at Entergy Corporation (retail electricity and gas provider), Bozell Worldwide (advertising and public relations agency) and Goodman Consulting (custom research and strategic planning services).
