Chatham Business Department to host Django Girls Pittsburgh coding event on Oct 10, 2015

PITTSBURGH: Chatham University is hosting one of the first coding workshops exclusively for women on October 10, 2015 on the Shadyside campus. Chatham, Google, IdeaFoundry and Schell Games are sponsoring this event being organized by Django Girls Pittsburgh. The purpose is to increase the number of women in the tech industry and provide an opportunity to learn how to program. The attendees will be mentored by Chatham’s Dr. Rachel Chung, Director of Business Programs, and female coders and engineers in the Pittsburgh region. Django Girls is a non-profit organization that empowers and helps women to organize free, one-day programming workshops by providing tools, resources and support. Each Django Girls event is a free, one-day workshop for 30-60 people about building your first application using HTML, CSS, Python and Django. A typical workshop takes 8 hours and people work in small, 3-person groups with a coach dedicated to each group.
