Aliquippa Mayor, Dwan Walker, to speak at Chatham University Martin Luther King, Jr. Honorary Breakfast on Jan 12

PITTSBURGH: On January 12, 2018 at 10 a.m., Chatham University will host a breakfast in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Mellon Board Room on Chatham’s Shadyside Campus. The keynote speaker is Mayor Dwan Walker of Aliquippa.

The cost for the event is $35 for individuals and registration is required.  Please register on Chatham’s website.  If interested in sponsoring the event or purchasing a table, please contact Diarra Clarke at clarke.diarra@chatham.edu.

The event is sponsored by The Black Student Union and the Multicultural Affairs Department.

About Dwan Walker
Aliquippa is located approximately 20 miles northwest of the City of Pittsburgh, PA, on the southern border of Beaver County, overlooking the Ohio River. In November of 2011, Dwan Walker became the first African-American in the city’s 204-year existence to be elected Mayor, and only the second in Beaver County. Mayor Walker is a lifelong resident of the city of Aliquippa and a 1994 graduate of the Aliquippa school district. As a student, Mr. Walker participated in student government and varsity athletics. He continued his education at Robert Morris University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 1999.

Mayor Walker’s leadership extends throughout the Aliquippa community. He enjoys mentoring children and counseling young adults in their skill enhancements, as well as listening and learning from the community’s senior residents. His affiliations incorporate the Beaver County Youth Football League, Aliquippa Little Quip’s football organization, and the Aliquippa Council of Men and Fathers.
