Dear Fellow Members of the Chatham Community,

The Search Committee met for two days last week for intensive interviews with the first group of candidates under consideration for the position of President of Chatham University. The Committee was very pleased with the quality of the pool and the caliber of the individuals interested in Chatham and in leading the University into the future. A second round of interviews will be held in mid-January when new candidates will be seen and some others brought back for second interviews. In the meantime, intensive background checks will be conducted on candidates of interest.

At the close of the meetings last week, student members of the Search Committee, Sarah Jugovic and Avery Walker, commented on the collegiality among Committee members and the amount of time committed and thought given by all members in evaluating candidates, including their "match" with Chatham's culture. Trustee Kent McElhattan noted that the pool of candidates was drawn from a wide variety of sources with nominations from the website, friends of Chatham, Chatham faculty and administrators, and our search firm, Spencer Stuart. Faculty Search Committee members David Fraser, Mary Beth Mannarino, and Joyce Salls reported at the regular faculty meeting on December 10 that the search process is going very well and that they are impressed with the quality of the candidates and with people's interest in and knowledge of Chatham and Pittsburgh.

As a reminder, the charge from the Board of Trustees to the Search Committee is: The Search Committee is charged with presenting one to three fully qualified candidates for the position of President of Chatham University of the Board of Trustees for consideration.

Regular updates will be posted on this website as the Search Committee continues its work into the winter. Keep checking in for more information.

Dear Fellow Members of the Chatham Community:

We are pleased to report that the Presidential Search Committee had a productive meeting on November 12. Our search firm, Spencer Stuart, reported that Chatham is known in the market for its upward trajectory and commitment to innovation and that Pittsburgh is seen as a desirable and dynamic city.

Better yet, Spencer Stuart presented a very strong and diverse pool of candidates for the Committee's initial consideration. The pool includes not only individuals identified from among Spencer Stuart's own wide-ranging contacts but also candidates nominated by members of the Chatham community and our friends.

Over the next month or so, the Committee will continue to review documents, including results of Spencer Stuart's referencing and due diligence, and will begin the interview process. The next Search Committee meeting is scheduled for early December.

It is also not too late to nominate someone to be the next President of Chatham University or to talk to your friends/colleagues about potential candidates. Nominations are NOT closed! Please send the name directly to Spencer Stuart at chathampresident@spencerstuart.com. All nominations are confidential.

Remember, you can always see the latest announcements about the search here on this website.
