Sustainable Landscape Architecture
In 2003, Chatham launched a new graduate program in landscape architecture. Consistent with Carson's legacy, the program is centered on principles of environmental sustainability, teaching students about organic approaches to land management, ecologically appropriate site design, watershed remediation and brownfield revitalization. Students have the opportunity to utilize the College's designated arboretum as a field site, as well as have ample opportunity to participate in internships and practicum with local environmental organizations, green building projects, and planning initiatives. In addition, students in the program can avail themselves of many courses offered at the College in environmental studies, as well as those offered by neighboring Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.
