Welcome to the virtual home of the School of Sustainability and the Environment (SSE) at Chatham University. Founded in 2009 after the tremendous gift of the 388 acre Eden Hall from Eden Hall Foundation, the SSE will provide sustainable answers to today’s regional, national and global social, economic, and environmental concerns.
The SSE encompasses the Master of Arts in Food Studies program and the Rachel Carson Insitute. The School's first academic program, Food Studies, has enrolled its second cohort of students this fall and the Master of Sustainability and Certificate in Sustainable Management classes will begin in 2012. With the selection of BNIM and Andropogon as the master planners for what will be the first ever zero net energy campus built from the ground up, our future carrying on the legacy of Rachel Carson, Class of 1929, has never looked brighter.
