Student Activities
Interfaith Council
The position of the Chatham University Interfaith Council is that religious sensitivity is a personal matter and should be treated with due regard, keeping sacred the principal of free will. Devotion in any system of belief should be offered and received openly in good faith; never by coercion, manipulation or deception. Some would capitalize on the tender yearnings of spiritual awareness to promulgate factional personnel or financial agendas. These actions thwart the value of spiritual exercise which should have as its objective the edification of the soul and contribution to family and social order. Council members foreswear attempts to advance organizational progress by such methods. IFC welcomes all to evaluate any religious activity by similar standards.
IFC typically meets on the third Thursday of the month at the Gate House. Students are welcome to attend. If interested, contact Angie Lusk at 412-365-1527.

The Community of Reconciliation (COR) was officially born in 1968 – a year of turmoil and tragedy. Following the assassination of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr., whose ""dream"" was a model for COR, America’s cities, Pittsburgh included, were torn by violence.
We are an intentionally interracial and multi-denominational congregation committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a call from God to live lives that work to bring about social justice for all people. Diversity is important to us. We believe that we know God better when we live in communion with all of God's people. We are diverse ethnically, ecumenically (we are related to five Protestant denominations: American Baptist, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Presbyterian Church, United Methodist, and United Church of Christ), economically, theologically, and inclusively.
Ministry at COR takes many different shapes and forms. We strive to acknowledge the varied gifts given to the people of God to build the Body of Christ, providing all who labor among us opportunity to discover their giftedness and use those gifts to usher in the realm of God. |
