For New Students
We are pleased to welcome you to Chatham College for Women and to the Chatham University community. Chatham College for Women has been providing an intimate, engaging, and dynamic education for women that is truly meaningful for almost 140 years. By the time a Chatham woman graduates, she earns not only a degree, but an understanding of her relationship to the world and a path to the future.
Women who accept admission to Chatham are expected to contribute to the curricular and co-curricular life of the campus by embracing the principles that are the basis of membership in this community:
- engagement in academic life;
- involvement in co-curricular activities;
- service to the community beyond campus; and
- respect for the Honor Code.
These principles are rooted in tradition, and Chatham women have held them dear and have worked hard to preserve them for more than a century. This booklet introduces students to services and resources available at Chatham to enrich the undergraduate experience. It provides an overview of Chatham’s innovative and individualized academic experience, including information on how to work with an academic advisor, answers to frequently-asked academic questions, career development and internship resources, and student employment and volunteer opportunities. It also provides an overview of Chatham’s vibrant co-curricular offerings, including information on residence life and theme housing options, health and counseling services, varsity and intramural sports, and student activities including clubs, organizations, and student government.
Whether you will be commuting to campus or living in a residence hall, Chatham has much to offer. Plan for the transition to college by reviewing
this website and checking for updates through the spring and summer. In early July, this website will provide you with information about the
mandatory New Student Orientation program which will take place from Thursday, August 21 through Sunday, August 24. Until then, we encourage you to
register for Accepted Student Day, on Saturday, April 5 when you will have the opportunity
to familiarize yourself with our beautiful campus and make connections with our faculty, students, and staff.
Again, welcome to Chatham College for Women at Chatham University. We look forward to meeting you!
