Leadership Opportunities
Resident Assistants
There are a staff of 20 Resident Assistants hired every year in the residence halls and apartments. Being an RA is a great leadership opportunity! Famous and successful people like Hilary Clinton, Katie Couric and Sara McLaughlin all started out their careers with an RA position.
Applications are available late in the fall semester and consist of a few essay questions and some general information. You are required to successfully complete the SDE-138 class, have and maintain a 2.8GPA and successfully participate in a group and individual interview in the spring. If you have questions, feel free to ask an RA, GRD or one of the ORL central office staff!
House Olympics Committees
A House Olympics Committee (HOC) is found in each living area and is comprised of residents interested in providing leadership for their house participation in numerous competitions throughout the year. Any resident with enthusiasm and house spirit is invited to serve on their HOC. Please see you GRD or RA for more information on getting involved.
Resident Student Association
The Resident Student Association (RSA) is the residence hall governance system at Chatham. RSA functions as a committee under the Chatham Student Government and provides recreational, informational, and social programs to the benefit of all resident students.
In addition to providing student development opportunities and services to the Chatham community, the RSA provides formal input to various campus offices regarding residential issues that impact students living in the residence hall. RSA members are also asked to provide input on issues relevant to residence hall life such as policy changes, facilities management, food service, and staff selection. A primary concern of the RSA is to promote the welfare of residential students at Chatham University. The RSA actively encourages a sense of interest and responsibility in residence hall and apartment life. The director of residence life works closely with the RSA. Any suggestions, concerns, or questions regarding residence life should be addressed to a graduate residence director of the director of residence life.
