SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAM (SURP) AT CHATHAM UNIVERSITY
In addition to the support provided by the Hulme fund, Chatham annually awards money for a few students in science program to work with a Chatham faculty member on his or her research each summer for 10 weeks. The number of positions varies each year.
AURA RASPALDO HULME ’50 & MILTON G. HULME, JR. EXCELLENCE IN SCIENCE ENDOWED FUND
This scholarship fund supports student scholarships, student/faculty research, and student travel to conferences for scientific presentations and is awarded based on merit. At the present time, the fund supports one on-campus summer undergraduate research position (SURP) and a number of trips to scientific conferences.
Students wishing to apply for travel funds should talk to Dr. Viehland. The award committee meets four times a year with application deadlines in October, December, February, and April.. Please note: the travel awards support only travel expenses (conference fees, travel, lodging and food); they do not cover poster board, photocopies, experimental supplies, etc. Students must have receipts for reimbursement and food expenses must follow the College's per diem rules.
