Athletic & Fitness Center (AFC)

Revised Operating Hours for December:

Building Hours December 1 thru December 18:

COVID-19 Notifications

  • Pre-registration for a desired time block and space will be required for all facility users. Reserve your time here. Students, faculty and staff are permitted to choose ONE workout slot & area per day in order to allow for all users to have access. Availability is subject to change, and facility use will be revoked for anyone who misses more than two scheduled workouts.
  • Access to the facility will be limited to the main entrance on the ground floor. The third floor McCrady Café thoroughfare to the ADC doors are no longer an entrance or exit to the facility.
  • During open facility hours students, faculty and staff can receive a temperature screening on the main floor of the AFC.
  • Everyone must present a Chatham University Student/Faculty/Staff ID & temperature screening card before working out.
  • Face masks are required for all facility users and will be checked at the front door. Anyone without a mask will be denied entry.
  • The number of people permitted in the AFC will be limited & we will keep track of the capacity through our check-in check-out system.
  • Physical distancing must be followed within the AFC.
  • Guests are prohibited at this time.
  • Lifting spotters will not be permitted.
  • Contact sports, such as basketball and squash will be modified.
  • Water fountains will be closed off, so please bring your own water with you.
  • The equipment lending program (yoga mats, exercise bands, etc.) has been suspended. Please bring your own.
  • There will be designated spaces for use of free weights, platforms etc. with no permission to remove the weights from the weight room.
  • The pool, climbing wall, locker rooms, showers, the sauna, and the steam room are closed indefinitely.

Store Hours may differ during events or holidays. We encourage you to check for updated store hours when planning your visit to campus.

  • In addition to masks, social distancing and partition plexiglass at the registers, we are wiping down high touch surfaces at regular intervals. 

  •  Currently, we are welcoming 10 guests in the store at a time. We  recommend that students place online orders for their textbooks, to avoid having to wait in line should the store exceed its capacity. If a student has a ready-for-pickup order and we have the maximum number of persons allowed, they can call to request sidewalk pickup; a staff member will bring the order out. Signs will be posted.

  •  Students with orders ready for pickup have been called to encourage early pick up during bookstore hours.

Lounge & Study Spaces 

Have some downtime in between class?  Lounge spaces on campus are still open. Students must wear a mask and physically distance. Check out some of these locations or find your favorite spot: Falk Lounge, Buhl Atrium, Welker, Carriage House, and the Library.

Places to Eat

Looking for places where you can remove your mask and enjoy a meal?  Check out the tent by the pond, the Mellon Board Room, and the Welker Room. These spaces are open all day.

Microwaves are available in the Carriage House and Falk Lounge. 


Lockers

Commuter lockers are available in Woodland, Falk, and at Eden Hall. This is a great way to reduce the amount of stuff you have to bring back and forth to campus. Stop by the Office of Student Affairs to reserve your locker (it’s free!).


Care Packages

Stop by the Office of Student Affairs in Woodland Hall to pick up a care package each month. Care packages include items like snacks, school supplies and wellness activities. Students will be notified via email when the care packages are ready to be picked up. 


Free Food Events

Each month, the Office of Student Engagement hosts a free dinner or lunch that allows commuter students to get connected with other commuter students. These events are announced via email.


Commuter Concierge

It can be hard to meet other people or get involved on campus. Kelsey Peek is a student who coordinates commuter programs in the Office of Student Affairs. Kelsey is your personal concierge to help you get connected to campus and meet other people. Email Kelsey at Kelsey.peek@chatham.edu to schedule a meeting or to ask a question.


Parking

Commuter students can purchase a parking permit under Tools on myChatham. Students who choose to park off campus should be aware of areas that require parking permits. For a map of off-campus parking locations, please email studentengagement@chatham.edu

COVID-19 Notifications 

  • Your daily temperature check card must be shown prior to entry into our facilities, and masks must be worn at all times, except when seated at a table and eating.
  • Prime dining times will be revised to adequately serve all students, while maintaining social distancing. 
  • Due to timing, all made-to-order stations will be changed into prepared items and feature an all-in-one meal.
  • Eating and servery areas will be reconfigured. Tables and chairs will be set up as advised by Allegheny County Health Department and CDC requirements. It is forbidden to move any tables or chairs at any time.
  • All self-service areas in Anderson Dining Hall, Chatham Eastside and the Eden Hall cafeteria in the Esther Barazzone Center will be discontinued in favor of served stations, Pick-3, or to-go. Beverages will remain self-served, but we will have an adjusted disinfecting schedule, and also will purchase equipment, where possible, to make beverages touchlessly dispensed.
  • We’ve made the decision to move to all disposable plates, napkins, "silverware". All of the items, including silverware and appropriate condiments, will be served with your food at each station. We are not using our re-usable to-go containers this year.

    • Temperature Check Station: Front of the EBC. Temperature checks required of all students and employees upon arrival.
    • Use of shuttle requires a temperature check prior to boarding.
    • Carry Chatham ID card. All buildings will be locked and require swipe for entry. Classroom doors are a high-touch source and will remain open. Observe directional signs in the buildings. Cleaning supplies will be available in each room. Students and faculty are asked to wipe down workspaces prior to leaving.
  • Dining:
    • Parkhurst will be operating normal hours with two 30-minute breaks for deep cleaning  mid-afternoon and evening. All service will be in the EBC (high traffic days, service from the barn will be added). Hot items and pre-packaged pick-3 will be available. Groceries can be ordered in advance. 

    • Available locations for eating: Outside, EBC, Lounge side of the EBC, Broadhurst Forum and the Barn. High traffic days, dorm residents are encouraged to take their meal back to Orchard Hall.

  • For all issues and requests, we ask that you submit tickets at https://services.chatham.edu. The ticketing system is the most efficient way to expedite your request.
  • If you have an urgent issue, please call the Helpdesk at 412-365-1112. We ask that calls to the Helpdesk only be made when you have an urgent issue or if you are unable to submit a ticket.
  • Digital Equipment requests must be submitted 72 hours in advance of the event date through the Digital Equipment Request form. Requests must be submitted by staff or faculty. Students are not permitted to submit requests. We cannot guarantee availability of equipment. It is issued on a first come, first serve basis. Prior to the event, a Helpdesk technician will meet with the person hosting the event to test and review the technology. The technician will not be available to stay for the duration of the event.
  • For issues with lab and classroom technology, please submit a ticket at https://services.chatham.edu. All issues will be evaluated and addressed when the space is no longer occupied.

JKM Library  

The library will be operating with a new reservation system. This reservation system includes the group and individual study rooms, as well as study tables, study carrel desks, comfortable seating, and computer lab seating. Patrons are restricted to 3 hours of reservation time in the library building per day, which can be split into two separate reservations. Reservations may be made up to 28 days in advance. 

Meetings with OAAR or Career Development do not require reservations through the library’s system, but if you would like to remain in the library after a meeting, you will need one.

  • Our goal is to reduce face-to-face contact and traffic across campus to reduce the risk of transmission, while maximizing availability and services supplied by SCPS staff.
  • Staff will maintain normal hours of operation; however, each staff will work remotely four out of five days per week. Staff will be available via email, phone, and Teams.  
  • All visitors are asked to schedule appointments with staff prior to arriving at the SCPS office space on the Eastside campus. 
  • During visits please comply with social distancing, face masks and any additional procedures required by the Chatham University.
  • Health screenings for the Eastside campus take place on the 1st Floor of the Eastside campus. Please follow the signs upon entry.

  • The Women’s Institute is located in Braun Hall, second floor, at the end of the hallway (Suite 2). However, due to our revised roles and additional responsibilities, we may not be in the office at all times. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to reach out via email or phone to set up an appointment to meet.
  • We will be following Chatham’s campus protocols for masking and social distancing. 
  • Visitors will be asked to wait for their appointment in the outer vestibule to maintain a safe distance. Also, we will not be serving coffee or tea to those attending meetings.
  • We will be using the conference room for very small meetings only, to maintain social distancing. Many/most meetings and events will be moved on-line.
