Find out what you need to know about mask requirements and protocols this year at ChathamU.
On Tuesday, November 17th, the Pennsylvania Department of Health issued an order concerning mask-wearing requirements in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The details of this order are already incorporated in Chatham's masking protocol.
Indoors at all times, including:
If masks are not an option for medical or religious reasons, the use of a face shield is a viable alternative. However, face shields may not be acceptable in all locations or based on activity (e.g., using the weight room in the AFC).
If a face shield is still not acceptable for accommodations under Title VII or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), students should contact the Office of Academic and Accessibility Resources (OAAR) and employees should contact Human Resources.
Chatham will provide all students and employees with a mask to supplement any masks they already use.
Masks will be available to students during Orientation and at the Office of Student Affairs in Woodland Hall. If anyone forgets their mask, or it becomes damaged, they can pick up a replacement at the Office of Student Affairs, too.
Masks help stop the spread of COVID-19, and are required at Chatham to help keep our community safe. Watch this Cougars Care video and read on for specifics about mask requirements, best practices and availability.
Masks are required based on the recommendations of health agencies and to comply with the current directives from Pennsylvania government. This simple measure is an easy and effective way to help reduce the spread of disease to others.
Students who refuse to wear a mask without a legitimate health exemption will be subject to discipline under the honor code. Employees who refuse to wear a mask without a legitimate health exemption will be subject to progressive discipline.
Please remind the individual of the requirement for a face covering or mask and ask them to put their mask on.
For Students:
If the individual does not state they have a medical exemption and refuses to put on their mask, please ask them to leave the location. If it is not possible or safe to address the situation, move away from the individual to a different location and/or alert public safety.
Employees or students who fail to follow the mask and other health and safety measures required on campus will be subject to discipline under employment regulations or the honor code.
For Faculty & Staff:
If the individual does not state they have a medical exemption and refuses to put on their mask near you, please ask them to leave the location. If it is not possible or safe to address the situation, move away from the individual to a different location and/or alert public safety.
Employees or students who fail to follow the mask and other health and safety measures required on campus will be subject to discipline under employment regulations or the honor code.
