September 29, 2010
8:00 AM - 9:30 AM
Howe-Childs Gate House, Chatham University, Shadyside Campus

The Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship at Chatham University, in conjunction with Grossman Yanak & Ford LLP, invites you to attend our Finance and Business Seminars in September, 2010.
Seminar 4: Wednesday, September 29, 2010 Is It Time for a Tune-Up? Preventative maintenance for your assets Presenters: Karen T. Mangis, Senior Manager - Technology Services Group and Anne M. Stalter, Manager - Audit & Assurance Services Group of Grossman Yanak & Ford LLP Wow, here you are! Your dreams, plans and struggles are starting to pay off. You downshift into cruise control, only to be hit from behind by an employee. Many noteworthy articles relay stories of fraud perpetrated by trusted employees and the dramatic impact on the potential success of the affected business. It is better to plan and implement controls to prevent this sort of activity than to clean up the pieces after such an occurrence. Essentially, every business should have, at some level, an internal control system in place to protect against losses, both intentional and unintentional. This seminar will discuss some potential risks and results of a lack of controls, as well as some easily implemented, cost-effective controls for small business owners. At the conclusion of this seminar, you will have a greater understanding of internal control systems and potential improvements that you can make in your own business to help safeguard your assets and hard work!
