Virtual Futures: Digital Storytelling for Sustainable Changemakers

Did you know there is a college campus built to be sustainable from below-the-ground up right here in the Pittsburgh area? Come to Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus to check out our state-of-the-art living laboratory as you explore the question: “What can I do to make my life and my community more sustainable?” Eden Hall Campus Highlights Green buildings, showcasing repurposed materials and environmental art Renewable energy systems An aquaculture lab Indoor and outdoor grow spaces An onsite wastewater treatment facility A two-story tall green wall Acres of woodlands SocialVR -Youth Voice for Local Practice Every young player in today’s environmental movement needs to understand some of the complexities, cost, and innovation behind the working practices of sustainable living in contemporary society. SocialVR is an easy-to-use digital storytelling tool designed for youth to create personalized VR experiences based on 360 photos, text, image, and audio. Students visiting the Eden Hall campus as part of Remake Learning Days will have an opportunity to play with SocialVR to document their visit and build a virtual tour based on their reflections from the day’s experience. Youth tours will be illustrated through a series of personal commitments (visual, audio, and text) from local rising changemakers that connect the campus experience to daily sustainability practice. Open to youth in grades 6-12. This event is part of the Youth Voice section of Remake Learning Days.
