Introduction to Backcountry Camping Workshop

Have you ever wanted to immerse yourself in wilderness and remain there overnight but don't know where to start in terms of gear or planning? A passionate backcountry enthusiast, Dr. Ryan Utz of the Falk School of Sustainability, wants to help you on your way. Dr. Utz has traveled throughout the country and world seeking the best backcountry destinations over the past 15 years and has published content for Backpacker Magazine. This hands-on workshop will introduce you to the basic gear and considerations required for anything ranging from an Alaskan excursion to an overnight trip to the Laurel Highlands Trail. Pending remaining time and interest, Dr. Utz will share photos and experiences from select far-flung locations.
