Diversity Dialogues at Eden Hall: Food Labor: Work, Wages, and Intersectionality

Thursday, February 14, 2019
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Eden Hall Campus: Lodge Living Room

Cost: Free!

Food is one of the growing sectors of the economy — from restaurants to start up businesses, big companies to entrepreneurs — and yet the employment situation in food has many of the same issues as the larger work world and some unique to this industry. Workplace activism around food labor includes a very visible #MeToo movement, Via Campesina and similar farm labor rights, the Fight for Fifteen, and the Restaurant Opportunities Center push for diversity and advancement trajectories for all workers. This discussion will focus on challenges and successes in making food and agriculture more equitable for all workers.
