Family & Friends Weekend

November 2013's Family & Friends Weekend was not only one of the most beautiful fall weekends in Pittsburgh, but also one of the most enjoyable and fun weekends on campus! We had more than 40 families in attendance, totaling over 150 families and friends that were on campus. Though there were several traditional events that took place, there were several new activities, new faces, and new adventures that were had!

Friday night featured the first Family & Friends Welcome Dinner, hosted in Mellon Board Room. The attendance and excitement for this event was way beyond what we had expected and we are so thankful to all who came! We already know in preparation for next year to have more food and drink ready!

Friday night was also the last night of Battle of the Classes, a weeklong competition between all class years fighting to be BOTC Champions. The week entails contests such as window painting, trivia nights, relay races and other mystery events in which students are judged based on results and participation. Song Contest is the final event for BOTC and to some, the most anticipated Chatham event all year! Families and Friends were invited to watch the students from each year compete in song and dance to win. Typically the lyrics include inside jokes about Chatham faculty and staff and are sung to popular songs. Each class year must also incorporate the lyrics to Chatham's alma mater into a new song. The bar is set higher each year with these performances and this year was no different - with the First Years shocking everyone with their performance (especially the seniors) and a zombie attack - our Chatham students covered it all!

The results from this year's BOTC and Song Contest were:
Relay for Life: Class of 2017 Winners
Window Painting: Class of 2017 Winners

This was the 4th year President Barazzone has hosted families and friends at her house for brunch. It is a great opportunity to tour her home, enjoy time with other families and even get to mingle with faculty and staff!

For the families who weren't interested in sports, we had local Squirrel Hill based company, Color Me Mine, come onto campus for families to decorate pottery. We were so impressed with some of the art that was made!

Saturday evening offered a little something on the wild side. Our friends from Wild World of Animals came to chapel to host an animal show. Everything from a scorpion to a wild money, and even a real live cougar!
