Monday, February 25, 2013
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Mellon Board Room

Massachusetts is the home of the first "Land Trust" in the United States, and the Commonwealth has a long history of investing in the conservation of its farmland. This workshop will explore the role that Land Trusts play in conserving farmland through the experiences of one of the state's most active Land Trusts - the Franklin Land Trust. The workshop will include a history of agriculture in these regions as well as exploring the many tools that Franklin Land Trust uses to conserve Farmland. The workshop will focus on models for land conservation and discuss the challenges for nonprofits and state agencies. The workshop will be interactive and include problem solving with examples.
