The Nursing Honor Society

Chatham University Nursing Honor Society does not discriminate. Candidates are qualified for membership as long as eligibility requirements is met. Student candidates shall have demonstrated superior academic achievement, academic integrity, and professional leadership potential. Qualifications for Regular Membership are as follows:

RN-BSN Students:

Baccalaureate programs (candidates must meet all criteria listed below)

  • Academic Excellence-- must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Rank in Class-- must rank in the upper 35% of the class/cohort
  • Curriculum-- must have completed ½ (12 credits) of the nursing curriculum
  • Academic Integrity-- based on the Chatham University honor code and Nursing Student handbook policies and procedures

MSN and DNP Students:

Graduate programs (candidates must meet all criteria listed below)

  • Academic Excellence-- must have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Curriculum-- must have completed ¼ (12 credit hours for MSN and 9 credit hours for DNP) of the nursing curriculum
  • Academic Integrity-- based on the Chatham University honor code and Nursing Student handbook policies and procedures

Professional Nurses:

Nurse Leader (candidates must meet all criteria listed below)

  • Holds a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) or higher in any field
  • Is legally recognized to practice in his/her country
  • Has demonstrated achievement in nursing (examples available on STTI Website)

Student member candidates are required to be enrolled at Chatham University to be considered for membership in that chapter. Since this is a start-up year of the society, graduates from the previous 12 months may be considered candidates. The nurse leader candidate may be selected for membership. When formal invitations are sent to individuals to join the Nursing Honor Society, they will receive an application via email to complete and return as directed.  

Honor Society Induction Fee

Each new member shall pay a Society induction fee as determined by the chapter Board of Directors, at this time the determined amount is set as $25. This shall entitle the new member to active membership with all its benefits from the date of induction for one year to the member's anniversary date of induction.
