On this page, you will find the admission process and requirements for Chatham University's Master of Science in Biology (MSBio) program.

Admissions Requirements

  • Completed application for admission, including:
    • Online Application (PostbacCAS preferred)
    • Personal Statement
    • Curriculum Vita or Resume
    • Letters of Recommendation: Two letters are required for all applicants; a third is required for applicants with an overall GPA below 3.0. Faculty letters are preferred, and all letters must be dated within the last two years.
  • Overall and science undergraduate GPA should be at or above 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants with GPAs below 2.8 may still be considered if they demonstrate clear evidence of improved academic performance or significant professional development, such as substantial research or relevant work experience.
  • Prerequisite Coursework: Applicants should have completed undergraduate coursework in the following areas before beginning the program. In most cases, prerequisite coursework should have been completed within the last five years, although applicants with other relevant academic preparation may also be considered.
    • One year of introductory biology with lab
    • One year of introductory chemistry with lab
    • Organic chemistry with lab
    • One course in statistics or upper-level mathematics
    • Three upper-level biology courses, such as anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, or neuroscience
