Health & Wellness Overview

Chatham's Bachelor of Science in Health & Wellness degree program offers interdisciplinary studies that prepare students for careers in healthcare, wellness, and health promotion. Students will acquire the skills to think critically and scientifically about human health and behaviors, understand and navigate healthcare systems, and gain perspectives on health, disability, and their social and environmental determinants. Students are well-positioned to pursue graduate studies in allied health (athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy), healthcare policy & administration, and health-related research.

Vision & Mission

The Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness program offers interdisciplinary studies that are ideal for careers in healthcare. Students acquire the skills to think critically and scientifically about human health and behaviors, navigate complex healthcare systems, and understand social and environmental determinants of health and well-being. Competencies acquired in this health and wellness major apply to careers in patient care, healthcare administration, health promotion, and public health.

Program Design

The B.S. in Health & Wellness curriculum comprises 43 core major credits organized into four themes: health of populations, health systems, scientific literacy and scholarship, and applied skills in health promotion and health education. With this health and wellness degree, students graduate ready to enter meaningful healthcare careers or continue to advanced degrees and research programs.

Courses & Curriculum

Chatham’s Bachelor of Science in Health & Wellness prepares students for careers in healthcare, health promotion, public health, and advanced study in allied health professions. The program fosters critical thinking about health and equips students with knowledge to educate and support individuals and communities. Students will gain a strong foundation in physical, mental, emotional, and occupational health to tackle today’s complex health challenges.

Prepare for Graduate Studies

The Health and Wellness program features a curriculum that integrates various educational themes, preparing students to either enter the workforce in the health field immediately or pursue advanced degrees in graduate education. Graduates of the health and wellness program are well-prepared for further study in healthcare fields that include but are not limited to: pharmacy, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training, health services management and administration, public health, and medicine.

Integrative Capstone Seminar

Every health and wellness student participates in an integrative capstone seminar, where they apply their knowledge and skills to a discipline-specific project related to their field of interest. Experienced faculty mentors offer guidance, fostering critical thinking and preparing students for future careers or academic pursuits.

Career Opportunities

Chatham's Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness prepares students for careers in patient care, healthcare administration, health promotion, and public health. Graduates can pursue roles such as Medical and Health Services Manager, Health Education Specialist, Community Health Worker, and Health and Wellness Coach.

Tuition & Funding

The cost of an undergraduate degree consists of University tuition (per credit charge), fees, and any other personal expenses you may require for earning your degree. Our Financial Aid and Admissions offices will also work with you to help you understand the scholarships and financing options that are available.
