Film Screening: Emergent City

Join us for a screening of Emergent City (dir. Kelly Anderson & Jay Arthur Sterrenberg, 2024), a documentary that follows a decade-long civic struggle in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where residents, developers, and public officials debate the rezoning and redevelopment of the massive Industry City complex. By tracing conflicts over jobs, housing, gentrification, and environmental justice, the film portrays the city as an evolving space shaped by competing visions of progress and equity. The screening will be followed by a discussion led by Dr. Josh Mullenite, who was directly involved in the organizing efforts against the rezoning.
