This documentary follows the story of an elite Olympic weightlifter whose extraordinary strength and large body defies traditional gender expectations.

Following the screening, stay for a panel on women’s athleticism and gendered expectations of women in sports. Co-sponsored by the Chatham University Graduate Psychology Program.

Ashli Molinero (’93), DSc, is a competitive handcyclist and advocate for participation in mainstream sports for people with disabilities. She is a native of Pittsburgh, born with Spina Bifida in 1971. She has completed the Pittsburgh, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Seattle and Boston marathons and placed in the top 3 of her category each time.

Tammy Spencer Bey is a native of Bethel Park, PA., and graduated from Bethel Park High School where she played softball and ran track. She was always active in sports and living a healthy life so it was not a surprise that she turned to playing professional women’s football with The Pittsburgh Passion. During her six years as a wide receiver, the team won several division championships. She still serves on the coaching staff and as a part of the Passion’s Business team through the “Passion for Life Foundation.”

Parking is free in the Library Parking Lot which you can only enter off of Murray Hill Avenue (not to be confused with Murray Avenue).

Murray Hill Avenue can be reached from both Wilkins and Fifth Avenue and is a cobblestone street. From Fifth Ave, it is located between Maryland Ave and S. Negley Ave. From Wilkins, it is located between Murray Ave and S. Negley Ave.
